N.B. several subgenera are described in this genus by Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 1999 (Aurantiphantes, Mughiphantes, Suffusiphantes and Whymperiphantes) and Saaristo & Tanasevitch, 2004 (Cornuphantes and Sachaliphantes); Sachaliphantes elevated to genus by Tanasevitch, 2008a: 128; the species treated in Tanasevitch & Saaristo, 2006 are not assigned to subgenera.
