Cheiracanthiidae Wagner, 1887

Family |   ACCEPTED
N.B.: Eutichuridae elevated to family status and relimited by Ramírez, 2014: 340; firstly mentioned as Eutichureae Kishida, 1936d: 37, so Eutichurinae Lehtinen, 1967: 312 is a synonym. Eutichuridae synonymyzed with Cheiracanthiidae Wagner, 1887 (syn. Chiracanthiidae Ono, 2009a: 464) by Ono & Ogata, 2018: 611, contra Ramírez, 2014: 341. The original spelling Cheiracantidae by Wagner, 1887: 105 needs to be emended according to ICZN Art. 32.5.3.1. (correction of the suffix from -dae to -idae) and Art. 32.5.3.3 (correction of the stem from Cheiracanti- to Cheiracanthi-); the correct, available spelling  according to ICZN Art. 11.7.1.3 therefore is Cheiracanthiidae, which according to ICZN Art. 55.4. is not a homonym of the family group name Cheiracanthidae in use in other animal groups. Wagner's name had been in disuse and at some point could have qualified as a nomen oblitum; however, since the resurrection of the name by Marusik & Kovblyuk, 2011: 126, the name has been widely used in the arachnological literature that a retroactive reversal of precedence according to ICZN Art. 23.9. is no longer possible, as the condition of Art. 23.9.1.1. (no use as a valid name after 1899) is no longer fulfilled.
