N.B.: Wunderlich, 2020c: 74 raised the status of the subfamily Ariadninae Wunderlich, 2004b: 657 to family level, he showed in his diagnosis several differences between the taxa around Segestria and Ariadna, but he did not provide any convincing argument why these taxa should be elevated to family level; we maintain here the current status (Ariadninae and Segestriinae as subfamilies of Segestriidae) for reasons of stability; mentioning of "Ségestriens" by Simon, 1864: 94, but the French ending -iens was not accepted as taxon at familiar level by Bonnet and Platnick, and this is continued here.
