N.B.: the authorship of the family is corrected from Simon, 1893a: 319 to Simon, 1864: 98 (sub Ségestriens) following the arguing by Marusik & Özkütük, 2026: 276; the French ending -iens was not accepted as taxon at familiar level by Bonnet, Platnick and in the WSC until 2026; raised to family level by Brignoli, 1976g: 30 (from subfamily of Dysderidae); the subfamily Ariadninae was raised to family level by Wunderlich, 2020c: 74, he showed in his diagnosis several differences between the taxa around Segestria and Ariadna, but he did not provide any convincing argument why these taxa should be elevated to family level; here is maintained the status of Ariadninae and Segestriinae as subfamilies of Segestriidae for reasons of stability.
