N.B.: traditionally considered a subfamily of Agelenidae, placed as a subfamily of Dictynidae by Lehtinen, 1967 and elevated to family by Forster, 1970b: 13; after Wheeler et al., 2017: 606 Cybaeidae includes Cryphoecinae Lehtinen, 1967 syn. nov. [authorship correctly Simon, 1898a: 250, sub Cryphoeceae; also Cryphoecini Kishida, 1955: 6 is older] (genera Cryphoeca Thorell, 1870, Calymmaria Chamberlin & Ivie, 1937, Ethobuella Chamberlin & Ivie, 1937 and Willisus Roth, 1981 as well as Cryphoecina Deltshev, 1997, Dirksia Chamberlin & Ivie, 1942, Neocryphoeca Roth, 1970 and Tuberta Simon, 1884, which are not explicitely listed by Wheeler et al., 2017; all transferred from Hahniidae) and the genera Blabomma Chamberlin & Ivie, 1937 and Yorima Chamberlin & Ivie, 1942 (transferred from Dictynidae); furthermore Argyroneta Latreille, 1804 (monotypic in Argyronetinae Thorell, 1869) is transferred to the Dictynidae by Wheeler et al., 2017: 607; Mastigusa Menge, 1854 is transferred from the Hahniidae to the Cybaeidae by Castellucci et al., 2023: 6; the transfers of Blabomma, Cryphoeca and Tuberta to Cicurinidae Murphy & Roberts, 2015 [oldest available name is Cicurininae Kishida, 1955: 4] (Murphy & Roberts, 2015: viii) not sufficiently justified and is not accepted here; Cybaeidae were considered a synonym of Argyronetidae Thorell, 1869 by Grothendieck & Kraus, 1994: 272; Cicurinidae is new circumscribed (Bromella, Cicurina and Chorizomma) and elevated to family by Gorneau et al., 2023: 11; included genera of Cybaeidae are listed by Gorneau et al., 2023: 11; the family is not monophyletic per Kulkarni, Wood & Hormiga, 2023: 515, f. 15-16.
