N.B.: elevated to family status from the Dipluridae and relimited by Raven, 1980a: 252 (with the subfamilies Hexathelinae, Macrothelinae and Plesiothelinae); new circumscription and separation of Atracidae, Macrothelidae and Porrhothelidae by Hedin et al., 2018: 5; the family is not monophyletic per Kulkarni, Wood & Hormiga, 2023: 487; the re-including of the three families by Raven & Douglas, 2025: 6, 13 is not accepted here (by majority vote of the WSC boards), because the molecular data of Hedin et al., 2018 and Kulkarni, Wood & Hormiga, 2023 are not taken into account sufficiently.
