N.B.: described as subfamily of Segestriidae by Wunderlich, 2004b: 657; raised to family level by Wunderlich, 2020c: 74, he showed in his diagnosis several differences between the taxa around Segestria and Ariadna, but he did not provide any convincing argument why these taxa should be elevated to family level; here is maintained the status of Ariadninae and Segestriinae as subfamilies of Segestriidae for reasons of stability.
